The sound is great but the selection is quite boring, other then the couple tracks. I get these sample disk as this is a great way to get introduced to the new kind of music. But this one did not do much for me.

Sonics (MC):
Well to start with I must say this is the only classical SACD I have...
I collect Jazz and some pop/rock so I am in no position to judge a classical
sacd. However, I do have this to say: It seems to me that this album would work
great with a 5.1 system with full range speakers all around. This is in fact,
recommended in the suggestions given on the inside cover of the album. I think
most of the pieces are meant to be played loudly and to give the listener the
full blown orchestral effect through full range speakers all around- my system
falls a bit short as I have two larger speakers in front but my center and surround
speakers are much smaller. I think this is the intention for most of the pieces
selected in the sampler. And overall, because I am not into classical music and
because I generally prefer softer, grooving pieces this was not my cup of tea.
That being said, I really enjoyed the guitar quintet piece where each of the five
guitars are placed onto each speaker and you get a wonderful effect of being
surrounded by the players and the music is sublime...but again the piece played-Rodrigo-
was used in Sketches of Spain by Miles Davis so perhaps this is just my Jazz preference
acting up again.
