The surround mix is done very well. The overall effect is "holographic", the music seems to come from behind the speakers!
There are mixes which pinpoint artists (use 1 channel only, or mostly 1 channel with just a little carry-over into other channels), but this mix somehow puts more sound into multiple channels, and preserves the timing information to ensure it sounds realistic. When done badly it seems the artist is in several places at once, but on this album the artists can be positioned fairly well.

As for the music, moody instrumental jazz, just a few instruments with long solo passages, a couple of songs have lyrics (including in french). Very enjoyable album.

stereo sonics: There is no stereo track on this SACD! This is the first SACD I know containing multichannel only. The stereo downmix sounds bad as always. This is no SACD for stereo men.

After listening to many SACD's this is one of the better multi channel offerings. All six channels are used to deliver a superb effect that is missing in many so called MCH SACD's. If you'd like a modern jazz sampler try this one.
