Performance:   Sonics:
I happened apon this recording in a thread in the forum. While I recognized the name I was not familiar with Ann's music. The good folks at were asking only $13.99 so I took a chance. One of the side effects of the limited catalogue available as SACD's is that I have discovered great recording that I otherwise would not have explored. This one is definitely a keeper, a mix of singing styles (she has a great set of pipes) and spoken word all woven around a story based on dreams and interaction with a shaman linked to her African heritage. I first listened to the stereo DSD tracks and was intrigued by the content but underwhelmed by the sonics of the vocals in particular, they were OK but seemed to lack sparkle and aliveness. I then tried out the 5.0 multi-channel, big positive difference the centre channel vocal is clear and alive.
