Performance:   Sonics:
Jacintha sings standard tunes to a slow tempo with the mike very, very close to her mouth. You can feel every breath. This makes some uneasy. I like the sound of this SACD even though at times I would like to speed up the tempo. Sounds like she's right there in the room. I play it when I want something slow and easy. I've played it during dinner while I had dinner guests.

This is a slow tune record - which does not make it easier to play by the musicians, but they succeed very well indeed. Jacintha's singing has both intimacy and smoothness which suits the arrangements very well. Also she has the needed engagement and personality. Actually I find this disc more interesting than the later releases by Diana Krall. The band is playing nicely, but IMO Anthony Wilson stands out in some tunes as the super-musician of the gang. Recording quality is clear and intimate. Jacintha's voice is miked very closely, so there are many details even when she is singing at low level. The sound is slightly warm as this is a direct to analog tape recording. Also I believe the use of Audioquest cables can be heard. All in all this disc is highly recommended, not only for it's audiophile qualities, but also for the musical performance. It's one of the disc's, that I have played many times.

I played "Here's to Life" (track 11 - not shown above) for my wife on our 17th anniversary. Neither of us are sentimental people but we both broke out in tears and smiles. To say that this piece of art touched us in our hearts is an understatement.

I don't think I can offer a higher recommendation to a work of recorded music.

Technically, her soft and smooth voice conveys the point of music. The accompliment supports and never overwhelms the message. The recording is so alive and welcoming that the record is one human intimately sharing with many.

This is one of my first SACD and I'm glad Jacintha has shown what this format can do - detailed but very analog/live type of sound and music. Moon River is my favorite here. The sound of the piano is very realistic. In addition, didn't realize Johnny Mercer has written so many nice songs. Highly Recommended!
