WOW,

I had to jump through hoops to get this SACD, and was it ever worth it!!!! I am not normally a person who buys solo woodwind music, though I can easily take oboe or bassoon over solo flute or clarinet.

Anyway, the miking is just a touch close and allows for the keys on Mr. Utkin's Loree oboe to be a trifle noisy. Despite this, the sound is absolutely top notch and the playing is superb. Mr. Utkin is a real virtuoso, and plays with a true flair!!! And the strings of the Hermitage Orchestra play at an equally high level!! Mr. Utkin deserves a pat on the back for making an effort to keep fellow student musicians together after they graduate from school..and look at and listen to the result!!!

Spacing could be a just little better (due to the close miking) but there is some air and space around the players.

Highly recommended and I can assure you that when Caro Mitis gets a US distributor, then I will slowly add all of their SACDs to my library!!!

***** Sonic ratings edited (positively!!!)after doing some major tweaks to my system as well as listening to this on a killer surround system.....

******* Second edit....if you are in the US and are interested in learning how to obtain Caro Mitis SACDs, then send me an e-mail and I will tell you where you can now get them. My e-mail address is in my profile!!!!
