Performance:  Sonics (MC):
Truly one of the best performances of the Manfred I have heard in some time. The individual instruments are wonderfully caught and Kobayashi does a good job of controlling the raging emotions found in this music. Quite expensive, though. About $45-50 for just this one SACD.

Negatives: Kobayashi is a grunter and the mikes pick up the vocalizations which do detract somewhat from the performance.

After much listening to this cd and much deliberation, I have to lower the sound on this. Kobayashi's incessant grunting is just too much for this recording. The sound really detracts from the overall performance.

Exton OVXL 00003 - MCh Tchaikowsky Manfred Symphony Kobayashi /Czech Philharmonic. This is
my favorite Tchaikowsky symphony. Magnificent performance!!! Orchestra knew its stuff and conductor created very strong powerful music. Sound is excellent. Probably the best digital orchestral recording I ever heard. Please note this disc is a hybrid but its soundstage is as good as any single layer I ever heard. Highly Recommended
