I have been wondering what to say about this disc for quite some time. Not entirely sure I like it too much, but that doesn't mean it's a bad disc so I shall just say a few general points. I listen in multichannel, this disc is recorded in 5.0 in DSD. The recording date is 1997 which makes it a very early DSD recording. Due to hardware limitations at the time it was very likely 5 microphones plugged into 5 DSD recording channels (maybe with a separate pair for the stereo recording). It probably would have benefited smaller speaker systems had they included an LFE channel, but not a major issue.

If you've ever walked into a big old reverberant church where the organ is blaring out, you'll know how important the acoustics of the building are to the sound. This recording captures that feeling, it's big and heavy with the different organ sounds bouncing off different parts of the building. A good example of how simple recording equipment can achieve very good results. In my opinion it's a little cumbersome and on the louder passages it's hard to hear the subtleties of the organ. I don't know much about the organs Lizst composed for, but maybe this is how it's supposed to be?

When all is said and done, it's 77 minute long disc on a budget label, if it sounds like it might be your thing then you haven't got much to lose :)
