| Marantz SA7001 and SA7001KI players out in Europe | February 27, 2006 |
| Marantz has introduced two new players that provide an affordable way for listeners to hear the benefits of SA-CD. The SA7001 and SA7001KI are based on technology used in its flagship SA-11 and SA-15 models, but at a significantly cut down price.
The SA7001 incorporates numerous sound enhancing features including all digital, analogue and control circuits being separated and shielded in their own enclosures to prevent cross-talk and other unwanted interference. Also there are independent power supplies for each dedicated system block to help separation, clarity and dynamics. A copper-plated, zero impedance matching joint and an optional ‘display off’ function are designed to minimise high frequency noise interference. The metal casework - which is available in black or silver - boasts a thick anodised aluminium front panel, extensive bracing and shock-absorbing feet. Finally, completing the package are electrical and optical digital outputs. Meanwhile, the SA7001KI features a few improvements over the standard model. For starters, the component embraces a special hand picked selection of enhanced components and the chassis has also been upgraded to a rigid, dual layer enforced design as well as sporting complete copper plating of the chassis and rear panel, for reducing signal-degrading electromagnetic radiation. The power supply is centered on a toroidal transformer, which is said to have a much higher efficiency than that on the standard model. Despite these improvements, the SA7001KI is about half the price of Marantz's flagship SA-15 model. Super Audio CD News, 27 February 2006 |
