Musically McDonald has a unique style if not a little strained at times. But frankly this SACD is compressed and loud. It lacks dynamics, body, and presence and sounds no better than a very averagely recorded RBCD.

Very good album musically, especially Gene Harris's piano work. I agree with much the previous reviewers have said about this album musically. Another great high resolution album from Analogue Productions using the original source master. The sound is open and full bodied with good dynamic range. You can clearly hear the great guitar work from John and Tom Fogerty and Stu Cook, drums from Doug Clifford and good vocal harmonies. I guess one ... more

I very much like Sara K's artistic impressions and musically I do enjoy this album. I also appreciate the in-site she provides about the creation of each song. Sonically I give the album credit for clear delineation between instruments. But I don't give this album as high marks as her "Play On ... more
