I have both the MFSL and DCC test-pressing redbooks. While I didn’t test the Mo-Fi, I did compare the Hoffman-mastered DCC with this SHM-SACD. The results were interesting. I have to agree with the OP. This Japanese SHM-SACD is a decided step up from the domestic two-SACD set. The domestic, aside from being stupidly divided into two discs and thus negating the huge storage capacity of SACD, was disappointingly bright and compressed. Another nod for this SHM-SACD. I just got done comparing it with the domestic SACD, and the differences were immediately apparent. The domestic is louder, more upfront, and more “hi-fi” sounding.
