This is a reissue of a 1986 recording made for Concord, which apparently was recorded on analog tape (no information is given in the booklet). Unlike the SACDs released by Concord itself, this one has not been remixed for multichannel.

I'm a classical music lover but I don't have enough knowledge to judge interpretations, so I'm giving 5 stars based on the reputation of these recordings. I enjoy them a lot.

I cannot agree on the 5 star sonic ratings the other reviewers have given, because these recordings don't come close to the best available on SACD (and even CD).
They sound dynamic and detailed, but lack a homogenic image of the orchestra, because they are heavily multimiked. For that reason, the ... more |
