It is a very good idea to start this SACD with the theme by Tallis that Vaughan Williams based his fantasy on. It´s only a minute long but very beautiful indeed. This easily outshines any competition on SACD. We all know that Sir Colin is an expert Sibelius interpreter and that the LSO will follow him like a man/woman. This was my first recording of Mother Goose and I loved it to bits. I played the LP over and over again, revelling in the lush sounds Ravel had written. Haitink and the Concertgebouw were a good guide with very sensitive playing. I didn´t like the first suite from Daphnis then and I don´t like it ... more

In the western world spring is hiding behind the next corner, and I can think of no better way to greet it than with this sacd. Young Mozart alive and well, full of youthful spirits and airs. The obvious comparison is Marriner, well treated by Pentatone. I was brought up on those and I love them ... more

A sparkling diamond and definately one of my records of the year. I always find it difficult to write about older music because often I find that it sounds merely nice or not. But this SACD is so much more and it goes way beyond nice or not. It is a spiritual experience of vast proportions. ... more
