very good and clean recording. soundwise this disc will be enjoyable for everyone. music itself......... perhaps too much honey but it's down to personal taste.

I love this symphony and there exist several excellent recordings - 3 from Karajan, 2 from Jochum, Bohm, Haitink, Solti, older historic performances, etc. Based on the performance alone, this ranks very well with those. Just glorious. Warm, flowing, fluent, relaxed yet energetic performances by this quartet, previously unknown to me. The Op. 18, No. 1 quartet is particularly engaging.
