I'm not sure how to rate this. There's nothing wrong with this SACD and Jay has a very good voice and its recorded well. It just doesn't get much play time on my SACD player. It's been 6 months since I last listened to it. I need to listen to it again. |

This is Indian music infused with some Western influences coming from Jon Hassell, Ry Cooder and Rick Jones. I would encourage you to give this one a try. Wow, wow, stupid good. Beautiful music, fantastic recording....... Liquid voices. The first choral album I've heard, where the acoustics, though wonderfully atmoshperic don't get mixed with the voices. You can hear this distinctly and clearly.

The 9th is arguably Mahler’s finest symphony. The farewell or death theme is usually handled in either an intense way that emphasizes terror, stalking, haunting and fear or in a heavenly organic approach that bids a loving farewell to life. Easy, gentle listening best describes this SACD. I enjoy listening to it as background music, but it's not a SACD that I listen or use to demonstrate the strengths of my system. Like all Telarc albums this is well done, but I don't rate it as reference. It doesn't "knock your socks off", but I'm ... more |
