This is certainly on of the best orchestral recordings ever made and the best recording of Church Windows you will ever find. Stunning dynamic range, splendid multichannel sound image and exceptional performances by Vladimir Ashkenazy.

The sound of this disc will blow you away, this has such an awesome dynamic range that it will drive your system to its limits. And the realism is absolutely stunning. The performance is excellent, not as high voltage as Stokowski or Bernstein, but I have to admit that the musicians of this splendid ...

Yes the sound is flawless but the performance could have been a little more theatrical and high voltage. Fantastic none the less.

The good news first: here we have a true Wagner/Strauss voice that soars above the stave so easily and does the big crescento in Beim Schlafengehen so splendidly, that one is reminded of Jessye Norman's rendition for Philips (with Masur).
